Dr. Oz Reminds Me to Live for the Now
It`s no secret I love Oprah. I don`t always get a chance to catch the show (in fact I never watch it anymore), but I do subscribe to the O newsletter and daily inspiration. Today the O newsletter told me there are '10 Things Dr. Oz Knows for Sure', so I checked it out. I like #3 and thought I`d share with you:
3. We regret the actions we don't take more than the ones we do.
A few years ago, I appeared on Oprah with Randy Pausch, the Carnegie Mellon professor dying of pancreatic cancer. He told me that he had recently taken his family on a trip to Discovery Cove to swim with dolphins. It was something that he'd always wanted to do, but it wasn't until he was dying that he made it happen. The next day, I booked the same trip with my family. If there's something on your wish list for life, make plans today to do it.
Just a little reminder: live in the now, live for the NOW! We all hear and even say, live each day like it were your last, but how many of us actually take action on that? I don`t know about you, but I have a huge list of things I want to see, try, do, visit, learn, love, enjoy…. So, why wait? I`m doing it… NOW!

thanks for posting this Jenny. I needed a pick me up. I got fired from my job on Monday for something dumb and have been sulking a little about it. I have never been fired before and its been pretty hard on me. I have been wanting to go back to school for years now, but always had a full time job and didnt want to take the time away from my kids and couldnt afford it... I have every excuse in the book. Well, now I am just going to do it! I am going to get a part time job, I am going to go back to work... I will make this work... right?! I need to just enjoy my life with my kids and be happy and stop stressing over everything. I know and you know that everything happens for a reason and to just enjoy life because it always works out for the best if you have faith... haha anyway sorry to banter, but thanks for posting that!
Oh man. I`ve been fired before too, for dumb reasons... sucks. I think it`s less the loss of the job and more the blow to your pride/ego. It`s like, ME??!?!? But, honestly, the truth is, getting fired WAS a blessing for me! It pushed me to get out there and try something different and put me on a new path. Sometimes we get so stuck in the day to day we forget that it`s not security we want, it`s to grow, learn and feel purpose! Single moms can get crazy grants to go to school. You can not only get your schooling for like, free, you can also get paid to go (get money for living expenses, etc). So, why not take this opportunity, like you said. People say it`s hard, but what isn`t? You can do so much on-line now and school can work around your schedule, so I think it`s probably easier than ever! Anyways, I might need some help, hit me up on IM or e-mail and we`ll chat more.
